Ajita de Zoysa
Mr. de Zoysa is the 5th Chairman in the Company’s 59 year history.
Having served as a Director since 1975 and Deputy Chairman from 1987
he has served as Chairman of the Associated Motorways Group since
1990. Mr. de Zoysa has held a series of
leadership roles in the fields of Manufacturing,Trading and
Financial Services. He is also the Chairman of Associated Electrical
Corporation PLC,Union Bank of Colombo Limited, a Director of CEAT
Group of Companies, Trelleborg Lanka (Pvt) Limited,Trelleborg Tyres
Lanka (Pvt) Limited and Royal Palm Beach Hotels Limited.
Deshabandu Tilak de Zoysa
Deshabandu Tilak de Zoysa, Fellow of the Chartered Management
Institute, UK, the Deputy Chairman/ Managing Director from 1993 has
served as a Member of the Board since 1980. Mr. de Zoysa is a Member
of the Monetary Board (of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka), Chairman
of Carson Cumberbatch PLC and is a Non-Executive Director of several
public quoted companies which include John Keells PLC, Taj Lanka
Hotels Limited, Lanka Walltiles PLC and Nawaloka Hospitals PLC. He
is the Chairman of HelpAge Sri Lanka and a Past Chairman of the
Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, National
Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka, Plastics & Rubber Institute and
several Trade Organisations, Bilateral Business Councils and
Friendship Societies. Mr. de Zoysa is the Honorary Consul for
Croatia in Sri Lanka since 1999 and is a recipient of "The Order of
the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon"from the Emperor of
Japan.
J B L de Silva
Mr. de Silva who is the Chairman of Eastern Merchants Limited, has
served on the Board since 1989. A lawyer by profession he comes with
substantial experience in the Rubber Trade and is the immediate past
Chairman of the Colombo Rubber Traders' Association. He also serves
on the Board of Associated Electrical Corporation PLC, Ceylon
Theatres Limited and a host of other nonlisted companies.
Ranjan de Silva
A Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants - UK,
Mr. de Silva has served on the Board since 1995 and was appointed
Deputy Managing Director - Motor in June 2005. He counts over 25
years of experience in Finance, Marketing and Operational
Management. He is the Chairman, Imports Section of the Ceylon
Chamber of Commerce and the Chairman of the Transport & Automobile
Committee of the National Chamber of Commerce and the Immediate Past
Chairman of the
Ceylon Motor Traders’ Association.
Ananda Caldera
Mr. Caldera has been associated with the Company for the last 21
years and has been a Director since 1996. He was appointed Deputy
Managing Director - Manufacturing in June 2005. A professionally
qualified Engineer, he holds an MBA in Management of Technology and
is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Materials - UK and the
Plastics and Rubber Institute of Sri Lanka. He is the President of
the Tyre Retreaders’ Association and also the President of the
Plastics & Rubber Institute in Sri Lanka. Mr. Caldera serves in
several Advisory Committees representing the Rubber Products
Manufacturing sector and is a Member of the Industry Consultative
Committee of the University of Moratuwa.
Dinesh de Zoysa
Appointed to the Board in February 2002,Mr. de Zoysa holds a
Bachelor of Business Degree from the University of Technology,
Sydney. He is the Managing Director of Associated Electrical
Corporation PLC and serves on the Board of several non-listed
Financial/Insurance services and HR Consultancy companies.
A R Peiris
Mr. Peiris holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Science from the
University of Ceylon, Peradeniya and is a Fellow Member of the
Chartered Institute of Management Accountants - UK. He was appointed
to the Board of Associated Motorways PLC, as a nominee Director of
National Development Bank in 1987 and subsequently appointed as an
Independent Director in May 2002. He has been functioning as the
Chairman of the Board Audit Committee from 2001 to-date. He served
the Petroleum Corporation for 10 years in Technical, Planning &
Finance Divisions and at the time he left the Corporation in 1979
was Head of the Refinery Finance Division. Thereafter, he joined
National Development Bank where he held several senior positions for
24 years. Mr. Peiris has held Directorships in several reputed
public listed and unlisted companies. He is presently attached to a
reputed public listed company of a large group as an Executive
Director and holds Directorships in several public listed and
unlisted companies within
the Group.
Ashan de Zoysa
Mr. de Zoysa holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from the
University of New South Wales, Sydney and was appointed as
Director/Group General Manager in June 2005. Prior to joining AMW he
worked in the fields of IT and Derivatives/Commodity Trading in
Australia. Mr. de Zoysa serves on the Board of Associated Electrical
Corporation PLC.
Susantha Ratnayake
Mr. Ratnayake was appointed to the Board on 7th August 2006 and
is the Chairman of
John Keells Holdings PLC. He is a Council Member of the Employers’
Federation of Ceylon and is a Committee Member of the Ceylon Chamber
of Commerce. He also serves on various clusters of the National
Council for Economic Development.
K Kanag-Isvaran PC
Appointed to the Board in 2007, Mr. Kanag-Isvaran is a Graduate
in Law from the University of London, a Barrister Lincoln’s Inn
(1964) and an Advocate of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka (1966),
with an extensive practice on the civil side in both the original
and appellate courts and specialises in several areas of law
including, Corporate Law,Intellectual Property Law, Banking and
Finance, Shipping and Admiralty, Telecommunication, I.T.,and
International Commercial Arbitration.
A member of the Law Commission of Sri Lanka from 1994, he Chaired
the Committee which drafted the ‘Mutual Assistance in Civil and
Commercial Matters Act’ No. 39 of 2000 and the ‘Reciprocal
Enforcement of Judgment Act’ awaiting enactment.He led the team of
Legal Experts who drafted the Arbitration Act No. 11 of 1995. He
also drafted the current ‘High Court (Admiralty Jurisdiction) Rules
1991’, at the invitation of the then Law Commission.He was the
Chairman of the Advisory Commission on Intellectual Property Law,
and the Chairman of the Advisory Commission on Company Law, which
drafted
repectively the ‘Intellectual Property Act No.36 of 2003 and the
Companies Act No. 07 of 2007’.
He is a Member of the Council of Management of the ‘Institute for
the Development of Commercial Law and Practice’ (ICLP) and a
Director of the ICLP ‘Arbitration Centre’ and a Lecturer and
Examiner for the Diploma Course in Arbitration conducted by the
Centre.He was a Visiting Lecturer to the Faculty of Law, University
of Colombo and the Sri Lanka Law College, and is currently lecturing
on Advanced Company Law and Arbitration for the LLM Course at the
Faculty of Law, University of Colombo. A Member of the Faculty Board
at the Faculty of Law, University of Colombofrom 1990, he is now,
since 2005, a Member of the Council of the University of Colombo.He
holds several other positions of responsibility.
He has written extensively and lectured locally and abroad on
several subjects, touching his area of practice and is a co-editor
of ‘Arbitration Law in Sri Lanka’.
Ms. Priyanthi Pieris
Mrs. Priyanthi Pieris was appointed to the Board w.e.f. 1st
April 2007. Mrs. Pieris is a Corporate lawyer with over 25 years
experience. Mrs. Pieris is a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of
England & Wales. At present she is in private practise and is a
Consultant to the Colombo Stock Exchange on Securities and Law
related matters. She serves as a Member of the Committees on Take-Overs
& Mergers Code and Corporate Governance. She is a Director of
several financial services companies.
Mr. Lalith de Alwis
Mr. de Alwis was appointed to the Board on 1st January 2008 as
the Finance Director. Mr. de Alwis is an Associate Member of the
Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka and a Fellow Member
of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, UK.Before
joining AMW, Mr. de Alwis worked for a number of years in the UK. He
was the Finance Director of Global Education Management Systems
Limited in the UK, and prior to that worked for a UK investment
fund. Before going overseas, Mr. de Alwis was the CEO of LOLC, the
first leasing company in Sri Lanka and later was the CEO of Ceylease
Financial Services Limited. He has also worked as a Financial
Consultant to the World Bank in Pakistan and to the governments of
the Netherlands and Jamaica.
