Daya DayawansaDear Common Public – Sri Lanka, AMW Daylight Robbery - Global Brand Killers - Sri Lankan Context A customer purchased a NISSAN X-Trail Brand New 2016 Hybrid T32 vehicle from AMW (Associated Motorways (PVT) Limited on 11 July 2016 at a price of Sri Lankan Rupees 11,500,000.00. At the driven mileage of 10,662km there was a warning message as “HV SYSTEM WARM UP – PLEASE WAIT IN PARK” Customer contacted the vehicle's sales agent in Sri Lanka; AMW and they asked him to send the vehicle to their service centre as soon as possible. Customer was on a family reunion tour for 07 days but he had to cancel last three nights and handover the vehicle at 11,066km to AMW for repairing. After three days AMW called him and said the vehicle needs to replace with a new CVT and they will import it from Japan and fix within 03 weeks. However, they did not mention or inform customer regarding the technical issue. Customer found the error codes from one of his friends working at the same company. The error codes were; P0775, P0776 - OBD-II - Pressure Control Solenoid B Performance / Malfunction. AMW did not send or disclose any details regarding the mechanical errors of the CVT even if customer requested it for several times. As the customer he has the right to know what issue were there in the CVT of a NISSAN brand new vehicle? After four weeks of time they gave him a courtesy vehicle but customer had lost many of the important work of his business and personal life due to the unavailability of his vehicle for four weeks. AMW contacted him on 13 June, 2017 and requested to collect the vehicle and return the courtesy vehicle but, they still do not provide him the mechanical failures or error details or scanned reports of the error caused by the CVT of Brand New NISSAN X Trail 2016. They also do not provide him the details for replaced Brand New CVT which they have (said) imported from NISSAN Motor Co. Japan. They have only given him a serial number of replaced CVT which customer cannot trust. As a customer he has the right to know about his vehicle, it’s failures, it’s newly replaced CVT’s details in black and white. Customer has lost the trust on NISSAN x trail vehicle since AMW has cheated him on the replaced CVT. Customer assumes that they have not replaced a new CVT through manufacturer (NISSAN-Japan). They have just put a reconditioned CVT and they have cheated their customer horribly. Now they want him to pay for the courtesy vehicle; LKR 5000 per day and parking fees for his X Trail; LKR 500 per day. (they force him to return the curtesy vehicle and collect my vehicle from their premises.) This is AMW's excellent customer service. Then the customer contacted NISSAN Motor Co. Japan as the manufacturer of his vehicle and requested for help and advices but, they (NISSAN-JAPAN) refused to assist him in this regard and suggested to him to deal with AMW; the local dealer for Nissan X-Trail in Sri Lanka. This is how a global motor company responds to their end users grievances. We just thought to share these information with the common public in Sri Lanka. Be aware when you buy any brands from AMW.
